Our favorite season is here! And we are not talking about spring, but about festival season 😉 There was a truly incredible increase in the size of audiences at these events over the last few years — and that is not hard to believe, because who doesn’t love a combination of good weather and music? Italy hosts a lot of festivals and the guests were never as numerous and as high-quality as summer 2017, so far. Want a few examples to understand what we are talking about? Justin Bieber, Placebo, Blink182, Green Day, Baustelle. Another good reason to choose an Italian summer, right?
Mi Ami Festival. (Milan) May 25, 26, 27
There is no time to waste here, try to get tickets as soon as you are done reading the festival line-up. The artists on stage at this festival in Milan, at the end of May, will all be artists from the Italian rock and indie scene: Baustelle, Carmen Consoli, The Zen Circus and many more. This event is symbolic for the city, and it should not be missed!
I – Days. (Monza) June 15, 16, 17 and 18
This is probably the most internationally oriented of the events on the list. This festival in Monza, close to Milan, will feature some exceptional guests, who will make these four days in June unique. Open your eyes nice and wide, and read the line-up carefully: Justin Bieber, Green Day, Radiohead, Martin Garrix, Blink 182, Bastille and many more. Yes, it really sounds like you shouldn’t make other plans for those days!
Just Music Festival (Rome) From June 20 to July 9
Once again, Just Music Festival is back to rock Rome, turning it into the stage of a great event for music and contemporary culture: 8 days of DJ sets, concerts and performances, featuring some really important, world-famous artists. Here is the lowdown on some of the artists in the line-up: Massive Attack, Rag’n’Bone Man, Nicholas Jaar, Paul Kalkbrenner.
Lucca Summer Festival (Lucca). June, July and September
Three months of high-quality music are expecting you in the Tuscan town, This year, the names that confirmed their participation made all music lovers go crazy, nevermind what music they love, from classical music to R&B to pop. Here are some of the names from the line-up: Mary J. Blige, Ennio Morricone, Imagine Dragons, Ms Lauryn Hill, and, drum roll… The Rolling Stones! Collisioni Festival (Barolo) July 14, 15, 16, 17 and 27
Only in Italy could you find a festival that combines gastronomy and excellent music, right? In this little town in the Langhe region of Piedmont, Collisioni is an excellent mix of great music (such as Robbie Williams and Placebo) and a series of treats for your taste buds. What else do you need?
Umbria Jazz (Perugia) July
This is also an event that is very symbolic of Italian summer: the festival will last for most of July, and as has been the case for the past few years, the lineup will not just include jazz artists, but also artists who play other genres. An elegant, quality event in a town worth visiting.
Home Festival (Treviso) August 30 to September 3
On its 8th edition, this festival is becoming increasingly important every year for Northern Italy. In addition to some famous Italian artists, like Afterhours, Fedez and Levante, remarkable international guests are also invited, like Duran Duran, Moderat and Liam Gallagher.
