Fashion: the most influential designers right now

Who are the most influential designer now? There’s a new generation of fashion desingers that in the latest years had completely broke the rules of the past and created true fashion phenomenons. Do you want to know who are we talking about?

Italians do it better: it’s good to be patriotic sometimes, especially if many of the coolest designers are italian. It’s impossibole not to immediately think about Alessandro Michele, Frida Giannini’s right hand, that in 2015 was asked to win the hardest challenge: make Gucci great again. Mission accomplished.

Michele is not the only italian in this amazing designers new wave. Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri had a great success together at Valentino, then they took different paths: he’s still the italian maison’s creative director, while she revolutionized Dior with her feminist contemporary aestethic. Lorenzo Serafini became the young romanticism frontrunner with his Philosophy, a delicate but powerful fashion phenomenon.

The thirty-something: they’re born in the Eighties and they’ve already reinvented iconic maisons. Anthony Vaccarello, at 36 years old, was able to continue on the succesful path that his predecessor Hedi Slimane created at Saint Laurent, but with a very personal twist. Jonathan Anderson, born in 1984, is the british enfant prodige that first gained the spotlights with his brand J.W. Anderson, then he conquered Loewe’s creative direction. He’s 28 yet, but Simon Porte Jacquemus is already one of the coolest french designers.

Waiting for their come-back: we’re all waiting for another italian designer come back. Riccardo Tisci, former Givenchy‘s creative director, after almost a year in the bleachers is ready to play once again as a regular for Burberry. A new challenge is ahead Hedi Slimane too: after Dior Homme and Saint Laurent, we’ll see if he would be able to create his third fashion phenomenon at Céline.

The outsiders: from niche brands to international phenomenons. Demna Gvasalia and Virgil Abloh are undoubtedly the fashion designers that made a little but powerful revolution on the catwalks but also on the streets. They’ve both created fashion hits, the first at Vetements and Balenciaga, the second with his brand Off-White.
