This Fall-Winter 2018, the award for the coolest outerwear goes to the puffer jacket, again. After the big come back last year, pushed by brands like Balenciaga and Vetements, puffer jackets and coats are still trending and ready to give a twist to our winter closet… and to keep us super warm.
In these weeks, among Winter 2019 trends, we’re only talking about them. And it’s all for a photo starring Kendall Jenner: the Instagram post in which the top model wears an Aritzia oversized down jacket soon became a viral meme, that brought these overcoats again in the spotlight and crowned them the must-have of the season.

At fashion shows, as well, maxi duvets were pretty much everywhere, even on posh outfits. Moncler puffer jacket becomes an evening gown thanks to designer Simone Rocha, for the special capsule collection Moncler Genius, while Tommy Hilfiger and Philip Lim stole iconic menswear patterns such as Prince of Wales and pinstripe fabrics. Neon colors, such as fluo green and fuchsia, are in new Prada collection, where oversized nylon outerwear is the real must-have.
This season, not only sizes matter. Logomania is trending also in the overcoat universe, as the new Versace logo puffer jacket that Chiara Ferragni wore a few days ago proves. Fashionistas need to focus also on fabrics: besides traditional nylon, fashionistas are obsessed with velvet and reflective surfaces, such as I Am Gia iconic bomber jacket. What about colors? Big yes to the rainbow palette, that we saw on the Burberry maxi coat worn by Cara Delevingne on the catwalk.
