After Bella Hadid, this year our Chiara Ferragni will be the semi-final ambassador of the LVMH Prize for young and talented fashion designers. The news, that has been launched on Instagram weeks ago, made immediately a splash generating curiosity and interest around the event. But what it is about? Let’s understand it together.
WHO?
More than 1.700 applications, 20 fashion designers from all over the world, 8 finalists, 63 fashion experts
WHAT?
The LVMH prize has been launched in 2014 and since its first edition has met tremendous international success, being considered a true enabler for young talents from all over the world. Fashion designers from more than 100 countries sent their applications and in the end 20 of them will compete to win the final prize. Among the 20 fashion designers shortlisted for the semi-final,
8 will have to create womenswear, 7 menswear and 5 gender-neutral collections. After this 8 finalists will be selected and will compete to be declared the most talented and outstanding creativity fashion designer. In addition to a 300,000-euro grant, the LVMH group will support the winner during a one-year mentorship provided by a dedicated LVMH team, in numerous fields of expertise. Moreover, the 24 Sèvres website will support the project and commercialize a selection of pieces designed by the 8 finalists, in addition to the collection of the winner.
WHEN?
The semi-final that will welcome Chiara Ferragni, will take place the 1st and 2nd of March 2019, whereas the final in June.
WHERE?
The semi-final will take place in 22 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, the final at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.
WHY?
To award young and talented fashion designers in order to guarantee fresh and unconventional ideas not only to the fashion contemporary scene, but also to the almost 70 LVMH maisons among which stand out Louis Vuitton. Fendi, Dior, Givenchy and Céline just to mention a few. Considered one of the most powerful group in the world, promoter of the savoir-fair and protection of the extraordinary artistic and design european heritage, also this time this prize opens the door of luxury to talent in its purest meaning.
