Snowy peaks and a nostalgic mountain village are the background of what has been the most expected show of this Paris Fashion Week, that has today come to an end. Chanel and the first show without Karl, the first show where Virginie Viard after the loss of her mentor and guide, had to inaugurate among emotion and melancholy, the big challenge given by the torch that made her the queen of the Coco’s maison.
On the runway, the last collection by Karl Lagerfeld made four-handed with Virginie, his right-hand woman for thirty years. To catwalk some of the most iconic models of the brand as well as close friends of the designer: Cara Delevigne, Kaia Gerber, Vittoria Ceretti e Maria Carla Boscono; All together to golorify again the incredible craftsmanship and stilistic bravery of a maison that since years sets the rules of an attitude with a unique charm and chic essence.
Oversized coat, tailleur with wide pants and maxi knitwear pieces are the protagonists, together with maxi check and pied de poule patterns for looks that more and more often find their personality in the streetstyle most glamours’ trends. In the collection also super feminine evening dresses embellished by feathers and crystals in a dreamy white allover. An androgynous touch, like Coco would have appreciated, has been given also this time: masculine hats and bags in coord patterns and many allusions to world of ski with embroidery in the shape of snow flakes on extralarge pullovers and dresses with little skier printed on top. Everything eriched by the most iconic Chanel signature: the drop-down jewellery with pearls.
To close the show, a minute of silence to remember what has been called the “farewell to Karl” during which, the Parisian Grand Palais‘ snow has made even more touching, the goodbye to the icon who has written an eternal chapter of the fashion history.
