Admiring the celebs that walk down the red carpet of the Croisette is like being immersed in a dream of silk and taffeta. Sensuality is expressed through long rip, dresses open on the backs and loose hair, which have become a routine on the red carpet of the Cannes festival.
In 2016, even the ever-refined Amal Clooney did not miss the opportunity to show her long and beautiful leg through her pastel yellow Atelier Versace dress, shortly followed by the breath-taking and super-provocative rip of Bella Hadid, a mermaid in red dressed by Alexandre Vauthier.
But we know that fashion is temporary by definition, and, until a few years ago, the Cannes dress code was very different. The regal allure was enclosed in pompous dresses with long skirts, paired with diamond tiaras and jewellery parures. The atmosphere was princely, in every sense: there were Grace Kelly, in white lace and hair curled up in a chignon, and Lady Diana, a light-blue fairy in Catherine Walker. Hair had to be curled up, shoulders covered, even by a shawl: it was ball, like in fairy tales.
Today, we can still dream when the celebs in Cannes decide to turn into princesses for a day: Kendall Jenner in Schiaparelli or Blake Lively in Chanel are tinged with super bright pastel colors, reinterpreting vintage elegance in a modern key. The real fairy tale? It’s all pink, like that of our Chiara Ferragni in Alberta Ferretti.
