The dream destination of every Instagram addict, Santorini is the first paradise on our summer bucket list. Perfect to spend a weekend surrounded by crystal clear waters, breathtaking views and a blue triumph, Santorini is an island to discover that won’t let you down.
Santorini or Thira, like the insiders say, is the southernmost of the Cyclades and is situated between Ios and Anafi and is superbly situated on the podium of the most visited Greek Islands. It may be for its white and blue houses overhanging the sea, for its super romantic streets or paradise beaches, what is certain is that this island is the real gem of the Mediterranean to visit almost once in a lifetime.
The most iconic portrait of Santorini is its white villages by the sea, together with a colour palette that shades from violet, yellow, green and blue. During the day the sea and the sky meet in 50 shades of blue, to turn during the sunset in a magical pink show that you’ll hardly forget. Make a stop at Oia to admire it with a glass of local wine in one of the wonderful terraces of the place. The island can be reached both by sea and plane and has many and many gems to visit.
Let’s start from the environment: Santorini is a volcanic island and what makes it unique and charming is the Caldera, the extinct crater and the place where lays the Island’s sea. The occidental coast is made of high cliffs where to see breathtaking views that will make you feel in a real-life painting. The chief town of the island is Thira, a picturesque village made of alleys which is perfect to experience the most traditional Greek atmospheres and taste some typical products of the Island.
As a volcanic island, the spectacle you can admire at the beach is unique: dark seabed with transparent and crystal clear waters. Pay a visit to the old port Skala Firòn and enjoy a happy hour surrounded by the typical music of the place.
We don’t want to spoil too much, but if you don’t have visited Santorini yet, we suggest you to put it in your bucket list as we did…and don’t forget to stop along the way to take photos!
