Crochet, fringes and an incredible 70s mood, this was heard during the fashion shows last September but today more than ever we have confirmed it. The fashion trends of this Spring/Summer 2020 are nostalgic, they look to the irreverent and colorful mood of the 70s to steal details and textures. We generally follow the common thread that has dominated the catwalks of this winter just ended, to fill it with pops of colors and unusual volumes. Fortunately, Climate Change is at the center of the fashionable dissertations of this Spring/Summer, which offers fabrics and materials that are the result of research that loves our planet. The brands showed their creations at the fashion shows in New York, London, Paris and Milan, and it is from there that we went to steal the trends that will dominate this season:
BARDOT NECKLINES
How romantic the outfits of this Spring! The Bardot or Off-shoulders neckline, if you like, is a great protagonist of tops and dresses. The shoulders are exposed in an extremely feminine, sexy but super chic way: the dresses do not have half sizes are mini or super long, often tightened at the waist by a belt; while the tops are cropped and super voluminous, combined with utility pants or square skirts.
’70’S DISCO COLLARS
Here is the coolest influence of this spring: disco music. Directly from the mood breathed in the studio 54 of an old New York, the fashion of this spring stole the exaggerated and pointed collars of those disco years. Shirts, jackets, and dresses are the protagonists. Prada, which has always used collars as its distinctive feature, has combined them with dresses with contrasting textures: the white and cotton collar pops up from mini dresses in leather or suede with bright colors. Fendi and Louis Vuitton have also made it a diktat: the first on jackets with a retro flavor and soft textures, the second on suits with a masculine flavor and a perfectly hippie mood.
SAFARI ATTIRE
The great fashion inspired by the safari look continues. The desert palette dominates this trend, preferring shades like orange, red, mustard, khaki and brown. The style winks at the utility wardrobe without losing its more feminine component. From Gucci to Zimmermann the protagonists are: jackets and skirts with pockets, cotton joggers pants and hats and raffia bags.
BRIDAL SUITS & DRESSES
If before we said romantic, now we have reached the apotheosis of bon ton. The wedding looks lose their formality and turn into everyday outfits with an unconventional flavor. Not only voluminous clothes and, of course, totally white, but also white suits were stolen from the male wedding wardrobe, to become the emblem of an unprecedented sexy attitude. Valentino, McQueen, Dior and Victoria Beckham are the bridesmaids of this super approved trend.
SUSTAINABILITY
It should not be considered a trend but a real attitude … but somewhere you have to start! As we have already anticipated, climate change is a great protagonist not only at the base of the inspirations of many brands but also of the garments that are transformed and reinvented. As if to demonstrate that sustainable does not mean absolutely out of fashion, the silhouettes perfectly follow fashion trends, while respecting our mother earth in every seam. To become ambassadors not only some of the most famous sustainable brands such as Stella McCartney but also beloved new entries such as Marine Serre or minimal lovers like Marni.
