If phase 2 is foreseen to combat the Coronavirus emergency, our planet should be able to start from phase 0. Unfortunately, in fact, there are no second plans when it comes to safeguarding the environment, the earth is one only and for this, we must today more than ever learn to take care of it. The worldwide lockdown caused by the spread of COVID-19 has certainly changed the habits of each of us, but if for someone, this is a dark, confusing and dangerous period, for our planet it has meant an unprecedented change. Today on World Earth Day it is right to open our eyes to what is the situation that our planet is experiencing and to become aware of the fact that, perhaps, this blockage has made something positive emerge.
Ever since the world stopped, industries have stopped producing and cars, buses and subways have stopped circulating, our planet has been reborn! Have you ever seen a starry sky like those seen in these strange and unforgettable evenings? Have you tried to breathe the air, to admire the colour of the trees and to realize how many animal species are getting closer to what man has changed forever? Yes, one of the consequences of the lockdown is precisely this: our earth is breathing again. But was there really a need for a global pandemic to reach this small but fundamental result?
For years thousands of associations for the protection of the environment have tried to make people understand how much an arrest, even if minimal, was necessary for the protection of our planet, but do you know as the saying goes: there is none so deaf as those who will not hear! But what has most influenced the rebirth of the planet? Although traffic is an important source of pollution, what the scientists said gave oxygen to the earth was undoubtedly the blockade of industries and factories. Although it is useless to make false respects, fashion and cosmetics are a passion that we first share, but it is fundamental today to review some production processes and operate not to create beauty on ourselves, but on what surrounds us.
The world community became very aware during this period towards the protection of our territories. Italian landscapes are beautiful, aren’t they? How much do we miss snorkelling in the coral reef? How much to dive from the snowy peaks of our mountains? Unfortunately, for now, we will not be able to see these wonders live, but we can make sure that, when this is possible, the wow effect is guaranteed. You are wondering how, you are proudly looking at your undifferentiated dustbin, but there is much more to do. Let’s start by changing the way we shop! The fashion and cosmetics industries are unfortunately some of the main culprits of global pollution and it is we consumers who make this worse year by year. It is NOT NECESSARY to find a different collection in the shop window every 2 weeks, it is not necessary to produce quantities that you do not know how to dispose of, it is not necessary to OWN so many items and products! The example must not only come from large pillars of sustainable fashion such as Vivienne Westwood (Buy less, choose well, make it last “) or Stella Mccartney but from each of us! Let’s get this false belief out of the head that what’s sustainable isn’t beautiful or ineffective, let’s get informed and start doing something good for our planet! Do you still believe in 2020 that it is necessary to use almost 10,000 litres of water to produce jeans? If you are short of ideas or research is not your strong suit, well these are the names of some fashion and beauty brands, which you will have to commit to buying from now on!
