Pride Month is approaching, many brands choose to support the LGBTQIA+ community with the creation of capsule collections or online and offline initiatives to support equal rights.
Dr. Martens’ support for the LGBTQIA+ community is not a recent story, Dr. Martens have been worn by activists since the Christopher Street Liberation Day parade celebrating the Stonewall riots up to the March to the Mardi Gras parades.
Even today, Dr. Martens continue to be a symbol of rebellion and defiance. Not just a pair of shoes, but part of queer culture, identity and history.
For Dr. Martens, Pride is much more than an appointment marked by the calendar, which is why the brand is committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community through donations to associations and charities around the world, so they can support them in their vital work of protecting and assisting the community.
This year Dr. Martens donates more than £200,000 to support LGBTQIA+ charities around the world. In Italy specifically, Dr. Martens supports Refuge LGBT, a charity organization part of the Gay Center, which provides a stable and safe family home, offering young victims of homophobia a safe place to stay. The organization hosts people between the ages of 18 and 26 and offers psychological support, legal help and professional mediation.
