Canadian actor Ryan Gosling is the new star of the new Gucci Valigeria advertising campaign. This time the imagery portrayed by the Italian fashion house founded in 1921 in Florence by Guccio Gucci, becomes a container of messages such as roots, experience and the journey understood as not only physical but also metaphorical exploration. Alessandro Michele‘s creative flair is well interpreted by photographer Glen Luchford who chooses to set this campaign in an almost cinematographic scenario. A dreamlike dimension seems to want to represent reality but at the same time lead us to a universe far away, to the discovery of worlds socially and culturally different from the one we experience in our daily lives.

Gucci, you know, always seems to want to take us on a real journey with its collections. Ryan Gosling, the actor starring in hits such as La La Land and The Place Beyond the Pines, is totally inserted in this scenario that seems to be almost comparable to that idea of non-place theorised by Marc Augé. Non-identitary and apparently anonymous spaces, detached from any control with tradition and a history. Thus the real place, conceived for this advertising campaign by Michele, becomes the mental place.
