Presented for the first time on 22 May on Wall Street in New York, during the Balenciaga Cruise show, the collaboration between Balenciaga and adidas fuses the streetwear codes typical of the German fashion house founded in 1949 with those dear to Demna, creative director of the French fashion brand founded by Christóbal Balenciaga.
For the ad campaign, French actress Isabelle Huppert and supermodel Bella Hadid wear oversized T-shirts with the three iconic white diagonal adidas stripes and are photographed by photographer Joshua Bright with the Manhattan skyline in the background. At the centre of this campaign is the Hourglass bag, one of the French fashion house’s flagship models, then the Triple S and Speed trainers, this time with the emblematic Adidas logo. This collection is the perfect representation of sporty wardrobe classics, such as the hooded jacket and bomber jacket, with a more oversized and edgy cut.
The elements of sportswear and fashion are part of both worlds, thus creating a unique dialogue. In addition to actresses Isabelle Huppert and Han So Hee, the campaign also stars boxer Jermell Charlo, singer BCW and models Bella Hadid and Khadim Sock wearing Balenciaga / adidas garments.
The location of the shoot is very special, the protagonists are surrounded by the clutter of an intense working day, amidst piles of paper, landlines and desktop computers. Among the coolest garments immortalised is the tracksuit reimagined as business attire, complemented by strictly high-heeled trainers.
The documentary work of photojournalist Joshua Bright was incredibly perfect, photographer Rosie Marks captured all the still life, while Chris Maggio did an excellent job in shooting the videos.
This collection is being launched in selected Balenciaga and adidas shops, on balenciaga.com, on adidas.com/balenciaga and in a series of exclusive pop-ups in Bangkok, Dubai, Los Angeles, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Toronto from 3 November 2022.
