Salone del Mobile 2015: 5 + 1 unmissable fashion events during the design week

Some say the Design Week is the most entertaining time of the year in Milan, and it is probably true. Maybe it’s the nice weather, or maybe is that all events are open to the public, but this is certainly one of the most anticipated events for both the Milanese crowd and the tourists coming from all over the world to discover the news in the world of design. And not only. During the past seasons, fashion has been in fact one of the protagonists of this week and the thousands of events in the calendar offer plenty to choose from. A bit disoriented? We got you! This is our guide to the 5 events (+1 that deserves a special mention) not to be missed in order to enjoy the most fashionable side of the Salone del Mobile 2015.






1. Louis Vuitton Objects Nomades (Palazzo Bocconi)
A collection of objects created in collaboration with 9 international designers who celebrate the art of travelling according to Louis Vuitton: the armchair-hammock by Patricia Urquiola and the beach chairs by Maarten Baas are unique must-see pieces.

2. Loewe Bowls Project (Loewe boutique)
Drinking a coffee in a leather cup? You can, at Loewe. In occasion of the Salone the brand presents a limited edition collection of bowls inspired by the creations of the potter Lucie Rie, reinterpreted by the House’s Creative Director Jonathan Anderson through the use of the leather and the manufacturing techniques the Spanish brand is master of.

3. Marni Mercado de Paloquemao (Marni showroom, viale Umbria 42)
A snack in a Bogota market immersed in colors and scents. Once again, Marni presents a colorful installation that delights senses while showing an ethical soul. Part of the sales of limited edition handmade objects, created in Colombia by a group of women experiencing hardship, will be donated to various charitable organizations.

4.The Art of Living by Giorgio Armani (Armani/Teatro)
From Mumbai to London, Giorgio Armani celebrates his vision of interior design illustrating through renderings and unreleased photos the global projects curated by his studio all around the world.

5. COS + Snarkiteture (Spazio Erbe)
A soft pillow as resting place for…your house key. This is one of the three gadgets created by the artists Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen to celebrate their installation inspired by the Spring Summer 2015 collection of a white cave made of cotton in which visitors can play hide-and-seek.

6. Missoni, Art, Colour (Maga Museum of Gallarate)
Yes, it’s not exactly in Milan, but the exhibition that displays the tight relation between the work of Ottavio and Rosita Missoni and the artists of the twentieth century through 100 artworks – source of inspiration for the family in different ways and times – inaugurates during the Design Week. The good news? It will be open until November 8th; so if time gets short, no worries:)
