Hamburger Day: our favorites in NYC

efoDid you know that May 28 is official Hamburger Day? YAY, this is the perfect, plausible excuse to go and enjoy a delicious, tasty burger! Wherever you are in the world this Saturday, forget about your diet, make no excuses: go out, and discover the best burger joint in your area. We could not stop ourselves from basing our list in New York, where burgers are a local food legend — like coffee is for us Italians — and we selected our six favorite hamburger restaurants and their specialties! Bon appetit!

The Spotted Pig. (314 West 11th St at Greenwich St)
There’s not much to add: this is one of the best hamburgers in town. We are not exaggerating, we promise: it’s a fact. The restaurant has incredibly pretty interiors with a lot of character — we’re talking rustic style with visible brickwork — and it’s sometimes too crowded. Our tip: since these guys don’t take bookings, show up early, and try their special fries, they are thin and easy on your stomach.

By Chloe. (185 Bleecker Street)
Vegan friends, fear not: we thought of you too, this is one of the most popular locations for those of us who have given up on animal products. And you, omnivores… If you thought that a meatless burger is boring, think again! Chloe, the owner and chef, will prepare vegan burgers and fries for you that are just as good as anything you would find in a steakhouse!

The Corner Bistro. (331 West 4th St.)
No one can say they lived in New York, if they haven’t dropped by Corner Bistro. Their burgers are among the most famous of the Big Apple, thanks to the accessible pricing and the pub atmosphere, in a very informal and cool location.

The Little Beet Table. (333 Park Avenue South)
A smorgasbord of beef, fried bacon, cheese, roasted tomatoes, French fries and a special sauce to top it all is what you will find in this bistro. Our tips? Try gluten-free bread and have your hamburger with a side of kale salad!

Saxon + Parole. (316 Bowery)
From the street as well as after walking in, this will look like an overly elegant location for a burger place… And yet, it is, and it actually makes one of the area’s best burgers. What is that, you ask? It’s the Burger, with an adult beef patty, special Pennsylvania cheese, fried egg and a special handmade sauce!

Burger & Barrel. (25 West Houston St)
As well as classic American burgers, this place, in the heart of Soho, offers an option you may not have heard of before, and that is truffle burgers! It’s a very original idea, one that we very much appreciate. Of course, that also implies that these hamburgers will be more expensive than the average, but it will be worth it. Trust us.
