While Chiara and other Crew members ran back and forth, busy with their fashion shows, some of us decided to go brand scouting during Milan Fashion Week… And it was a lot of fun! Sunglasses were definitely center-stage when we had a look at the most interesting accessories — so we can’t do anything but share the news about these brands with you: these are very cool brands that are not necessarily so famous, and we think that they deserve your full attention.
Quattrocento
Founded in 2014 by a pair of under-30s, an Italian guy and an Israeli girl, is based in Milan and Israel. Together, they managed to unite their different senses of aesthetics and cultural backgrounds, creating something exciting and with very well-defined character. The name of the brand nods at the century of the Italian Renaissance, where everything was at its highest splendor — and not only in Tuscany. The Renaissance is inspiration for their collections, something we can see in their choice of color palettes, and in some details that bring Renaissance architecture to mind.
TBS ♥ Despite these 15th century influences, their style manages to stay minimal, even with a futuristic touch. Everything is hand made, which characterizes the quality of their work. Well done!
Percy Lau
Young Percy founded this brand in 2013, in Hong Kong. Her idea initially was to create accessories that make people happy, while now she likes to make people think with her work — and she totally manages. Her glasses are crazy, genius, and often very ironic: they let us all understand every unique facets our personality, while exploring the world from an utterly unusual angle.
TBS ♥ Whether their frames are deconstructed or totally baroque, with Japanese-style manga eyes on top of the lenses… We finally found glasses that are almost as mad as we are!
Eyepetizer
This brand was founded by 3 friends: a designer, a graphic designer and a copywriter, who all adore Ibiza. It was on this island that one of them stumbled upon a pair of vintage glasses from the 1930s, hidden underneath the sands of a deserted bay — these glasses sparked the idea of their product line, and all their glasses bear the names of one of Ibiza’s little bays, telling us a story with their very defined colors.
TBS ♥ Their simple and clean design, typical of their ultralight frames, their contemporary style with a retro touch and their colored lenses. Some of us here at TBS are big readers, and we fell in love with their cases… Because they are book-shaped!
