If there is a spell that can transform every adult into a child, this is undoubtedly Disney. Entire generations have grown up with the characters created by the mythical studio, and despite the passing of time, one never tires of seeing what it will have in store for its audience. In recent years, the path of live actions, film adaptations with stellar casts of the legendary cartoons, has been undertaken with great success. After having cried with Tim Burton‘s tender Dumbo, we must be prepared to dust off our childhood memories with all the new productions that are coming soon.
ALADDIN: THE KING OF THIEVES THAT MADE US FALL IN LOVE IS COMING BACK
The story of Aladdin contains all the ingredients of a perfect fairy tale: action, adventure, mysterious places and lots of romance. And if we add the right dose of humour, the result is truly unique and special. To bring Aladdin to the big screen will be Mena Massoud, who plays the young thief, and the beautiful Naomi Scott who will be Jasmine. The real gem is the presence of Will Smith who will dress the Genius clothes.
THE LION KING BECOMES EVEN MORE MAGICAL THANKS TO BEYONCÉ
There are two types of people in the world: those who have cried watching The Lion King and those who tell lies. Mufasa’s death is almost a childhood trauma, and even when we grow up we can’t stop a tear from falling. If we then move everything from the VHS to a maxi-screen, we add amazing special effects, and we complete the whole thing with the voice of Beyoncé dubbing the character of Nala, we can only expect a super live action that is in first place among the most anticipated films of the whole season.
ANGELINA JOLIE STILL TAKES MALEFICENT CLOTHES IN THE SEQUEL “MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL”
We have already had the opportunity to admire the splendid Angelina Jolie in the guise of Maleficent, the not so bad witch of Sleeping Beauty, who returns this year with a new sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. In October 2019, Elle Fanning will also return in the role of Princess Aurora, as will Sam Riley in that of Fosco. The most sensational new entry is surely Michelle Pfeiffer, who will be Queen Ingrith, the new enemy of the most beautiful witch in the cinema.
JOURNEY IN THE IMPERIAL CHINA WITH THE LIVE ACTION OF MULAN
A fable that is also a true story: this is Mulan, the Chinese heroine who, to save her father, enlists in the army disguised as a man. To bring this tale of ancient China to the cinema in 2020 will be Liu Yifei, a model and actress who will wear an armour and transform herself into a super tough princess. The live action will be directed by Niki Caro.
EMMA STONE DYES HER HAIR IN BLACK AND WHITE AND BECOMES CRUELLA DE VIL
Little is known about the live action dedicated to one of the most fashionable villains of all time, Cruella de Vil, except that the role of the protagonist with bicolour hair was entrusted to Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone. Emma Thompson, who a few years ago played the author of Mary Poppins, Pamela Travers, in Saving Mr. Banks, is also in talks to join the cast.
THERE WILL BE A LIVE ACTION DEDICATED TO TINKERBELL WITH REESE WITHERSPOON
Finally, another live action entirely dedicated to a single character will be the one focused on Tinkerbell, the mythical blonde fairy friend to the eternal child Peter Pan. We know very little also about this production, except that the scriptwriter and protagonist have already been hired: they are Victoria Strouse, who has already worked on Finding Dory, and the fantastic Reese Witherspoon.
