Paris Fashion Week dedicated to Haute Couture ended with an unprecedented Ready-to-Wear show. We are talking about Mugler’s Autumn Winter 2023/2024. Casey Cadwallader, creative director of the fashion house founded by visionary Thierry Mugler in the mid-1970s, put on a memorable show that was one of a kind. So this fashion house returned to the catwalk after years of digital fashion shows, amidst 90s supermodels and contemporary icons. They include Debra Shaw, the iconic Eva Herzigova, then Paloma Elsesser, Shalom Harlow, Adut Akech, Amber Valletta, Mariacarla Boscono and Pose‘s Elektra Abundance, Dominique Jackson.
This collection is a tale of very interesting imagery, very different bodies and the heritage of the historic fashion house. Be warned though, as much as Cadwallader is able to emphasise a kind of extravagance and inclusiveness, his vision is nothing like that of founding father Thierry. In the 1980s, it was not so easy, especially to be moder. i and break. But perhaps it doesn’t matter, the Mugler universe still proves to be sexy, daring, outrageous in some respects and decidedly fetish.
During this fashion show, the creative director took the opportunity to present his first bag for Mugler, its name is Spiral Curve 01. This leather and sculpturally shaped bag could certainly rival the iconic models of a few decades ago. Among the most visually striking garments, we could not fail to notice those made of lace, then plenty of room for denim, cotton poplin, corseted shorts, cuts and various applications of different fabrics.
