When innocence and sensuality find the perfect balance, the result can only be a hymn to an unusual and sophisticated femininity. In the Dior FW 2021-22 collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the world of fairy tales is the background of a collection that takes the more pragmatic face of reality and reinterprets it in a fantasy key.
Transformations and appearance are the keywords of the garments presented in the new film by the French brand, set in the legendary and magnificent Galerie Des Glaces in Versailles. Absolutely not a random choice that of the Gallery, which makes the mirror the protagonist, interpreted as a means of metamorphosis. As in fairy tales, in fact, the mirror becomes the character who visualizes the thoughts of those who reflect on it: “I started from fairy tales, a world that is the natural consequence of the exploration of myths” Said Maria Grazia. The entire collection is the result of a metamorphosis of Dior’s distinctive elements, with an authentic and timeless charm.
The iconic Bar Jacket does not lose its original shape but reinvents itself by adapting to the needs of contemporary women with a hood and pleats on the hips. The dresses are short and to be worn as an apron, from which you can see shirts with ruffles and lace. The skirts are full and mini or midi and flounces, the long dresses recall the iconic corollas shape to be embellished with colored tulle and oversized elements such as bows, collars and hearts. The suits are classic and in tweed and wink to the 1950s, in contrast to the outerwear made of recycled nylon anoraks, upcycled cashmere coats and spotted sheepskin jackets in the most beloved Dior gray. The accessories play with pumps with heels, micro-beaded collar-necklaces and the already beloved Parisienne bag that Maria Grazia Chiuri redesigned starting from the Babe. A contemporary fairy tale, which makes everyone princesses, yes, but incredibly modern.
