Award Season has officially begun. The Golden Globes are the first in a series of award ceremonies leading up to the prestigious Oscars-this year they will be held on March 12, mark it in your calendar.
The Golden Globes are back totally in attendance and at large, just like in the old days, with an edition that is very attentive to representation and engagement in social battles (after the several sticks received last year). Thus the lifetime achievement awards went to African American comedian Eddie Murphy, a true legend of 1980s movies, and to showrunner and producer Ryan Murphy, who has been telling stories of the LGBTQIA+ community for 25 years; the former received the Cecil B. Demille and the latter the Carol Burnett.
As expected no major sweeps for the top awards given in the film section, Steven Spielberg won best director and best drama film and also award to the Irish comedy The Spirits of the Island. Best series are The White Lotus: Sicily, Abbott Elementary and House of the dragon.
The red carpet also proved to be quite dull, none to snatch a 10 or even big hair-raising slips, definitely a red carpet of boredom.
