It’s time to Winona (again): the 90s icon is Marc Jacobs’ new face

Fresh from her worldwide success with last season of Stranger Things, Winona Ryder, the American actress who starred in major film hits including Edward Scissorhands, Girl, Interrupted and Autumn in New York, returns as the face of Marc Jacobs.

Winona is considered one of the most beloved icons of the 1990s, and now returns as the face of Marc Jacobs for the new J Marc bag. Shot by London-based artist Harley Weir, the 51-year-old actress once again poses as testimonial for the famous US fashion house. Portrayed in all her timeless beauty, Winona Ryder had already been photographed years ago for Marc Jacobs, for the Spring Summer 2003 collection. This collaboration between the actress and the designer did not come about by chance, in fact Ryder was chosen by Jacobs immediately after being accused of kleptomania in 2001. After a theft worth thousands of dollars (in Beverly Hills) Winona Ryder, at the height of her career, was processed and condemned. Among the stolen items was a cashmere jumper by Marc Jacobs. Ça va sans dire, a deep friendship and collaboration between the actress and the designer was born shortly afterwards.

Almost twenty years after the event, Winona is back as the face of Marc Jacobs in all her gothic allure.
