The figure of the stylist is currently one of the most powerful in the entire fashion system, he who is able to expand the meaning and image of a brand, a celebrity or a fashion editorial, and is able to tell its soul.
Today, stylists have become real celebrities, known not exclusively among the industry’s technicians, a job that has undergone many evolutions over time and is now perfectly capable of adapting to a new era. Law Roach is undoubtedly one of the most famous, we know him mostly as the stylist of some of Hollywood’s most famous celebrities. These include Zendaya, Anya Taylor-Joy, Céline Dion, Ariana Grande, Hunter Schafer, and Tiffany Haddish. Law, however, started his career at his boutique Deliciously Vintage in Chicago’s Pilsen district, where he was noticed by Kanye West in 2009. The following years would be a succession of successes and new experiences, until Law Roach became the first African-American stylist to be featured in the Hollywood Reporter‘s cover story for being named Hollywood’s Most Powerful Stylists of 2021.
Of all the celebrities he works with, Law Roach is undoubtedly extremely close to Zendaya, and for the past few years has also been the creative director of her clothing line Daya by Zendaya. One of the most cult moments experienced by both of them took place on the red carpet of the Met Gala 2019, when Law Roach and Zendaya recreated one of the most famous scenes from Cinderella, the stylist literally lit up the voluminous dress of the well-known actress with his wand.
We challenge that outdated and misogynistic concept of the great woman behind every great man, with a decidedly more contemporary one, of a great stylist behind a great look.
