Louis Vuitton presents the new ‘Artycapucines’ collection, an ode to the world of contemporary art through the unique creative vision of five talented artists: Billie Zangewa, Ewa Juszkiewicz, Liza Tou, Tursic & Mille, and Ziping Wang. This collection perfectly embodies the masterful fusion of the fashion system and art, where artists have a blank canvas to express their creative vision through the iconic Capucines bag.
This accessory, created in 2019, pays homage to the first Louis Vuitton store opened in the heart of Paris in 1854, on Rue Neuve-des-Capucines. As a result, this bag has become a blank canvas for many contemporary artists, who have created unique masterpieces. These works reveal the versatility of the entire collection and bring out an artistic talent that blends with the impeccable heritage of the historic French fashion Maison.
THE BAGS OF THE LOUIS VUITTON ARTYCAPUCINES COLLECTION
‘Artycapucines’ boasts a total of 29 unique creations made by world-famous artists. In addition to the names mentioned, the collection includes works by artists of the caliber of Alex Israel, Beatriz Milhazes, Daniel Buren, Henry Taylor, Paola Pivi, Park Seo-Bo, Tschabalala Self, Ugo Rondinone, Urs Fischer, Vik Muniz, and Zhao Zhao. Each bag represents Louis Vuitton’s continued dedication to supporting artistic creativity, a commitment that has lasted for over a century, from the days of Gaston-Louis, Louis Vuitton’s grandson, to epic collaborations with legendary artists such as Sol LeWitt, Yayoi Kusama, Richard Prince, and Takashi Murakami, to the opening of the Fondation Louis Vuitton designed by Frank Gehry in 2014.
“BTW, each bag in the collection is available in a limited edition of 200 pieces, each housed in specially designed packaging, ready to become a symbol of style and sophistication for those who choose them.”
