Milan Fashion Week 2021 Day 2 Recap

Unconventional shows in the midst of baseball fields, fashion houses that reinvent their own codes, unusual color palettes and back to basics, here are the highlights of some of the main SS 22 shows on day 2 of Milan Fashion Week 2021. Spoiler: Orange and low jeans waist protagonists!

ETRO

Engaging energy, contagious optimism and a rediscovered positivity characterize Etro’s SS22 show. The past becomes a source of inspiration, especially in the styles and fashions of the ’70s and’ 90s that blend by taking patterns and colors from one, shapes and style from the other. The iconic paisley becomes a spiritual mandala with a psychedelic flavor with references to sophisticated furnishing fabrics, this time mixing with new maxi prints such as multicolor daisies and material stripes. Orange, yellow and black are the protagonists of a palette that screams energy and audacity. The pants are super comfortable, the waist is low and formality is pushed aside. Etro, in fact, for the next SS22 wears its more gypsy soul with micro tops, bra crochet, stones, dress cutouts and oversized men’s shirts to be combined once with wide-leg trousers and another with leggings and knitted cyclists. To complete the look, sandals with wedges or heels with leather intertwining to be combined with tote and bucket bags in painted ray with Paisley motifs.

HUGO BOSS

The tradition of the German Bundesliga moves to Milan in all its euphoria for the Hugo Boss SS22 collection. The Maison, in fact, has kidnapped its guests with an unprecedented and energetic show set in a baseball field in the Italian capital of prèt-à-porter. Cheerleaders, mascots and caddies roam the pitch frantically, becoming the backdrop for a decidedly casual and already trendy collection. Orange is the protagonist of the looks, mixing with beige, white, black and blue in knitted shorts to wear with a low waist to let a glimpse of masculine boxers. Jackets are varsity with extra-large patches and shapes, sweatshirts have hoods and match scarves, bags and beanies. Shirts become jackets to be worn with lace-up boots and trench coats the perfect ally of checked coord suits.

TOD’S

The collection proposed by Tod’s sets the rules for the textures and colors of the next SS22. White, black and beige are the gentle protagonists of looks that mix the iconic elegance of the brand with a new, bolder and more informal spirit. The boots are laced and high up to the calf and contrast with leather dad slippers for a new-found but no less cool comfort. The outerwear is in ultralight leather, with a straight cut and 60s style. To these are added oversized biker jackets that wink at boyfriend style and trapeze padded jackets. The shorts are high-waisted and balloon-shaped and the blazers, strictly with oversized straps, are combined with athletic leggings and bra. The bright blue and purple differ from the usual Tod’s palette to match the leather and make it indispensable.

MISSONI

Missoni goes against the trend for the next SS22, if others prefer orange and yellow, the iconic colors of the Maison, Missoni opts for blue, purple and fluorescent colors. The style, reflected in amazing hair looks curated by GHD, is typically gypsy and takes up the most symbolic zigzag texture to renew it and offer a new and more casual version. The jeans have a very low waist and a wide leg to be worn with open bra and vests that reveal body and shapes. The Missoni logo becomes the pattern of coordinated leather suits made of almost invisible mini skirts and bra for a style that enhances femininity like never before. The long caftans in fact have given way to transparency and more material compositions that prefer cut-out bodysuits and suits and tailored trousers with a masculine cut.
