The fashion system witnessed a new chapter begin with Sabato De Sarno‘s second show for Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2024-25 collection. With a bold yet refined vision, the new creative director has reinvented the brand, abandoning much of the eccentricity of past years to embrace a new and sophisticated minimalism.
One of the most surprising features of the collection was the ability to combine contrasting elements to create something new and fresh. De Sarno told of oxymorons and a fusion of different styles and materials. The color palette was another surprise, with shades in stark contrast to those of the previous Spring/Summer 2024 collection. Among the various hues, we find powder pink, green, various shades of yellow, turquoise, and the now-famous Anchor Red.
Key pieces of the collection include tailoring, midi lace dresses, and fitted jackets embellished with thin belts that highlight the waist. As for footwear, we loved to see over-the-knee boots parade down the runway, which will be one of the most beloved trends of the upcoming season.
Despite the change in direction, the collection has maintained a certain continuity with Gucci’s past, incorporating iconic elements such as the double-G logo. However, it’s clear that the designer has great ambitions for the brand’s future, and this is just the beginning of a new era for the historic Italian fashion house, Gucci.
