Anthony Vaccarello‘s Fall/Winter 2024-25 runway show for Saint Laurent brilliantly closed the first day of Paris Fashion Week, giving us an extraordinary show that will remain in the memories of the fashion system.
Vaccarello, with his collection, leads us to reflect on what was once at the center of fashion, now made invisible: the clothes. Figure-hugging silk dresses, evoking the delicacy of sheer lingerie, reveal and at the same time envelop the female figure in a play of transparencies. Transparency, a distinctive signature of Saint Laurent, is reinterpreted, increasingly reducing the distance between fabric and skin until they almost magically merge. Paying homage to the iconic “nude” dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in her last public appearance, the designer intends to communicate how ephemeral lightness proves to be an illusion. Can purity, instead, be provocative?
The best looks from the latest Fall/Winter 2024-25 collection by Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello
The icons of Saint Laurent have been reimagined, tailored pieces becoming decidedly more fluid – from the georgette crepe jacket to the ultra-light coat embellished with marabou feathers. The theme of transparency, reinterpreted in a contemporary key, extends to sculptural glass jewelry, evoking more an abstract form than a concrete one, while the location – very similar to a boudoir – transports us to a realm so intimate and secret.
