The entire fashion system is constantly evolving and draws a lot of inspiration from past decades. Recently, we have been dwelling mainly on the return of the 2000s, yet focusing on the print and pattern trend, fashion and the latest trends also take in the 70s, 80s and 90s. For the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, iconic garments of the print mania take to the catwalk. Between floral, animal, optical and geometric patterns in bold colour nuances to those inspired by the colours of nature – with an almost faded look -, one of the most popular trends of the current season comes to life.
Fashion is becoming more and more sustainable and considering the real eternal return of trends, it is not at all unusual for everyone to find the perfect garment even among archive pieces in family wardrobes. It is known that floral is not pure avant-garde, but from Etro‘s revisited paisley to Saint Laurent‘s roses, many trendy looks are only sprinkled with flowers. Not just eccentricity, these new florals become more minimal than those proposed in past years.
One of the most interesting returns is mainly focused on the rebirth of the maison founded by Emilio Pucci, with its new creative director Camille Miceli. The print maison is finally ready to write a new page for one of Italy’s iconic Made in Italy brands. Not only Pucci’s prints, among the protagonists also the stainless and above all versatile imagery of Missoni. This summer we will be focusing heavily on prints and vintage motifs, but don’t forget, fashion is also avant-garde, and the obvious expression of this are trompe l’œil prints. When fashion becomes art, and clothes a canvas to be embellished like real paintings. For example, at Loewe, looks very similar to watercolour paintings embellished with, let’s call them, details.
