Simon Porte Jacquemus was until recently considered the enfant prodige of the fashion world, but today he is one of the most renowned names in the industry, his collections among the most eagerly awaited. Jacquemus pays attention to every detail, from the looks to the locations. In fact, it is impossible to forget the iconic nature of some of his most famous fashion shows, from the défilé in lavender fields to the show entitled Amour in an immense wheat field.
After his last fashion show on a rainy day in Hawaii, Simon Porte returns to his homeland, France. His new collection Le Papier comes to life in the salines de Giraud near Arles, in Camargue in southern France. Although the French designer has long declared his opposition to the imposition of seasonality in the fashion world, this collection should refer to Fall Winter 2022-2023.
The imagery depicted in this collection of pure white tones is a tribute to Simon Porte Jacquemus’ childhood. Through a trip down memory lane, the designer takes us back to the pivotal colours and fabrics of Provence, to a time long gone, to the memory of his grandmother Liline and their shared nostalgic passion for things of the past.
Among those present in the front row to observe Simon Porte’s creations were international celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Vincent Cassel and Tina Kunakey. Some of the top models, from Vittoria Ceretti to Jill Kortleve, wore interesting looks with unusual volumes and overlays. The leitmotif of the show Le Papier, in French paper, is white. The chalk colour used by the designer is not just a trend, it takes on a much broader meaning linked to the concept of a blank sheet of paper symbolising a new life to be written and stained.
Once upon a time there was a blank page, this is the story of the new stylistic vision signed Jacquemus.
