Paris Fashion Week is still halfway through and, while waiting to find out what trends will be dictated by brands like Chanel or Louis Vuitton on October 6th, we have started to outline what will be the trends for next summer. The exceptional protagonists? The beloved and irreplaceable bags! If on the one hand during the MFW just passed we saw straw and cotton as the trendy textures for the SS 21 bags, in Paris, the mood is more minimal, except for Dior, and there is still a lot of focus on the logo. Balmain, historical participant of the Paris Fashion Week, has recently inaugurated its new logo, which has abandoned the historic B to take on more geometric shapes (Fendi can you hear us?). Balmain plays with the contrast of black and white and dyes the must-have bags of summer. Chloè maintains her bohemian style by focusing everything on pastel shapes and colours, while Isabel Marant (PS. A must-see collection!) Has made a significant change of look, abandoning neutral and earth colours, to prefer metallic textures and bright colours. But let’s get to the hot topic! What will be, so far, the trendy bags of the next SS 21?
MAXI POCHETTE
Comfortable and incredibly cool, the maxi clutches are the undisputed protagonists of the next SS 21. The format is maxi and incredibly soft, the rigid and geometric shapes have been almost completely abandoned to prefer soft bags to carry in the hand or to tie on the wrist.
ROUND BAGS
Always following the abandonment of geometry, the round bags are the 60s element that we will love for next season. In mini or maxi versions, with chains or metal handles (Chloè is on the podium of favorites) the bags with rounded shapes are the detail that will make every outfit glamorous. Unless you are a lover of the more classic hobo-style versions, choose your round bag in pop textures and colors to play down even the most minimal outfits.
HANDBAGS
An irreplaceable ally, handbags are the accessory that par excellence calls summer. In Tote format, worn in vogue by Dior (have you seen how beautiful the leather version of the SS 21 collection is ?!) or in the bucket and backpack version, the handbags are roomy, versatile and very suitable when in summer it is time to travel or leave for a weekend away. We love them in the Tote version in multicolour fabric, but you can try different models like this “back-bag” by Chloè.
MINI BAGS
From Jacquemus’ Chiquito onwards, mini bags are, literally, the detail that brands seem to be unable to do without. Very small and to be used, necessarily, together with more capacious bags, they inevitably give a cool touch to outfits and will continue to be the protagonists next summer. The use is purely aesthetic so do not opt for the so-called “evergreen” versions in shades of black or brown, but dare with patterns and colors, like these models proposed by Isabel Marant and Dior.
