Tom Ford‘s latest Fall/Winter 2023 collection was a tribute to the iconic works the designer has brought to the runway over the years, as a celebration of the end of an era. The runway show featured reproductions of some of Tom Ford’s most famous looks, including the sequined minidress worn by Beyoncé for her “Mrs. Carter World Tour” and the white dress worn by Gwyneth Paltrow at the 2012 Oscars.
Images of the collection went viral on social media, showing models Amber Valetta, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Karen Elson, and Caroline Trentini posing in an illuminated storefront. Photographer Steven Klein captured the looks with styling by Carine Roitfeld, and Tom Ford appears in front of his muses, for the last time.
TOM FORD’S LATEST COLLECTION
Tom Ford’s farewell comes after the sale of the brand to Estee Lauder for $2.8 billion, and the future of the brand’s leadership is still uncertain.
After transforming Gucci into a global fashion brand, Tom Ford presents his “final collection” nearly 30 years later with a triumphant exit. However, in recent years his clothes no longer seemed to tell the story of the novelty of the Gucci-YSL golden years, characterized by the pursuit of a particular timeless allure and glitz that is decidedly no longer as relevant today.
