We saw them parading on the catwalks of the Fall/Winter 22 collections and we said, are white tank tops really back in fashion? And in a moment they invaded the streets, worn without distinction of gender or occasion. For many it is a fashion trend that they hoped remained buried in some cardboard box or plastic bag vacuum dating back to the early 00 – yes, of those who sucked with the nozzle-, for others it is instead a great long-awaited official return. Yes because let’s face it, the white tank top has never really come out of our wardrobe, for a few years it enjoyed a secondary role: it was that piece to have under the petticoat dress, to evoke 90s vibes, or to wear under a shirt over when you felt more rebellious than usual.
But now the white tank top is the undisputed protagonist, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons teach, with Kaia Gerber and Hunter Schafer opening and closing the Prada FW22 show. And then Matthieu Balzy from Bottega Veneta chooses the white tank top to open the show, combining it with a pair of classic denim to best evoke the vibes of the late 90’s and early 00’s.
