Craftsmanship is one of the flagships of Made In Italy, of which Tod’s has been an ambassador in the world since its birth. Tod’s, in fact, is the brand that for years has told the essence of craftsmanship in its most human form, shows off the authentic Italian savoir-fair in collections of handmade products that inspire a typically chic and sophisticated style, which takes life from over forty years thanks to the work of masters of the cut.
The precious leathers and the iconic stylistic codes of the brand have now become the subject of a project in collaboration with Central Saint Martins, aimed at protecting and extending Italian craftsmanship from generation to generation. Legacy, the course and project of Tod’s and of the school that for years has put some of the most important names in the sector on the fashion market such as Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, is an invitation to the younger generation of designers to reinterpret the iconic pieces of Tod’s from a unique and personal point of view. Legacy, in fact, specifically explores the projects of 35 emerging designers chosen by Central Martins and focuses on the creative and artisanal process that led to their final proposal. During the course, each student was associated with an industry professional as a designated mentor to bring a real-world perspective to their work, assisting and advising them.
In a historical moment like the one we are experiencing, young students need more than ever to be supported and encouraged, says CEO Diego Della Valle, so that they not only become ambassadors of a culture, that of Made in Italy, to be transmitted by generation after generation, but have the real opportunity to collaborate with the main groups and brands, which today are flagships of this incredible all-Italian tradition.
