Rebel and tirelessly classic, the FW 2019 Haute Couture collection by Maison Valentino is a majestically harmonic and surprising palette. Once again Pierpaolo Piccioli proves to be not only a savoir-faire master but also a sensitive connoisseur of the real world, that his beautiful mind is able to translate into high fashion in its rawest meaning.
“The only way to incarnate haute couture today is to embrace different women’s identities and cultures” these are the simple but surprisingly contemporary words that the designer used to present what has been the silver thread of this ode to the unconventional. Feathers, wool fringes and silk ruffles embellish coats and capes structured taking inspiration from yesteryear shapes. A collection that mixes the most cheerful and colourful side of the ethnic fashion with the sumptuousness of the Haute Couture’s lines in pastel shades.
Piccioli is the only one, who with so much harmony and irreverence at the same time, knows how to play with colours taking the most traditional patterns to reinterpret them in a perfect rainbow. Pink, cyclamen, mint green and yellow meet the power of red, black and navy blue in a game of contrasts and transparencies in a way that belongs to couture only. Also, the animalier is redesigned in a super elegant and not banal at all way, matched with gold and pearl white.
Also, the details and the accessories could do nothing than surprise us after the last SS Couture show. If before the lashes of the models were made of beautiful feathers, today the Maison plays with headgears sometimes made of flowers, others of fur and wool. To wear the pieces some of the most iconic muses of the brand: Maria Carla Boscono, Kaia Gerber, Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti e Adut Akech, to break the silence: the homages of an audience in ecstasy. An ode to extravagance as individuality in its purest, rawest form.
