“These 10 years at Moschino have been a fantastic celebration of creativity and imagination. I am really proud of the work I leave behind. I would like to thank Massimo Ferretti for giving me the honour to lead this iconic Maison. I would also like to thank all my fans around the world who have celebrated me, my collections and my vision. Without you none of what has been would have been possible”.
– Jeremy Scott, former creative director of Moschino
Yesterday, it was officially announced that renowned American designer Jeremy Scott was stepping down as creative director of the famous Italian fashion house Moschino. Starting in October 2013, his innovative vision has been able to tell the story of one of the most famous Italian fashion houses of all time, leading to a decade of incredible success characterised by a pop-camp style that combines irony, humour and shameless beauty.
Staying very true to the heritage of Moschino and his predecessors, founder Franco Moschino and designer Rossella Jardini, Jeremy Scott has written an important chapter in the entire fashion system with his work. His creative vision brought important innovation to the fashion house and made Moschino globally recognised for its bold and playful style.
Massimo Ferretti, the President of AEFFE S.p.A. said:
“I am lucky to have had the opportunity to work with a creative force such as Jeremy Scott. I want to thank him for his ten-year commitment to the Maison Moschino and for launching a distinctive and joyful vision that will forever be part of Moschino’s history”.
WE LOOK BACK OVER THE DECADE OF JEREMY SCOTT’S CREATIVE DIRECTION FOR MOSCHINO WITH ONE OF OUR GALLERIES
Starting next April, the creative team of designers will replace Jeremy Scott while waiting for a new creative director. Many names are circulating among insiders, including Richard Quinn, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, Palomo Spain, KidSuper and the highly-regarded Giuliano Calza, creative director and founder of GCDS.
The question is: will Moschino still be able to surprise us after these years of Jeremy Scott’s creative direction? During his tenure, we have seen many memorable collections that have had a significant cultural and media impact. For example, in the Spring/Summer 2014 collection, he used the iconic McDonald’s print on a range of clothes and accessories, attracting global attention. In other collections, he reinterpreted Barbie, emoji and comic book characters such as Bugs Bunny and SpongeBob. In this way, Scott’s work has brought a breath of fresh air and innovation to the Italian brand.
