Easter this year will breath a blow of total spring air, so no eggs bought at the last minute and impromptu lunches in the park, with a little ‘advance the Easter period can be experienced as a real holiday or, if the available time does not allow it , a short getaway to some of The Blonde Salad‘s favorite destinations. Among early summer tastings, made in Italy experiences and spectacular locations there is nothing left (notes and passports in hand) to pin the places you will find in our guide and pack your bags!
ROME:
Illustrated by thousands of artists, inspiration of the biggest names in fashion, whether called the eternal city, magical, the emblem of Dolce Vita doesn’t matter that much, one thing always remains the same over the years: its timeless charm. Continuous destination of tourists from all over the world, is the Italian alternative to spend magical days surrounded by unique artistic masterpieces, delicious food and breathtaking views.
There are many places to visit but the extraordinary nature of Rome lies in the fact that at every corner you can see something absolutely wonderful and unexpected. Starting from the Circo Massimo and proceeding towards the Colosseo you will have already admired much of the historical and architectural heritage of Western culture and oh, camera in hand, you will see between the ruins landscapes we challenge you can find anywhere else…Instagram approved. A few steps away there’s the Altare della Patria and in front of it the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Campidoglio, Ara Pacis, Piazza del Popolo and the naturalistic gentleness of Villa Borghese, but much more. Besides historical monuments, Rome is also famous for its meeting places where you can taste (in the true sense of the word) some of the best delights of the Italian culinary tradition: Trastevere and its osterie, Campo de ‘Fiori and its bars where experience a true Italian aperitif. Not only food and art but also fashion in its purest meaning: in addition to Via del Corso where you will find most of the luxury brands, there are also many shops with a selection that will amaze you. Keep an eye on the vintage too: let’s point out Pifebo, iconic vintage shop, that will not disappoint you at all. If you want to immerse yourself in the Italian fashion culture (and if you do not want to, do it anyway) you should definitely visit Palazzo Fendi and its headquarter Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. Finally, for two TBS-style goodies, we recommend Ginger for brunch and an aperitif at the Pacifico (all the fans of the Netflix series Baby will be happy).
DUBAI:
For a taste of summer in advance we have chosen Dubai and for those who have never been there, the landing will really be a shock. Overlooking the Creek, the limb of sea that divides it in two, this pearl (or it could also be said gold ingot) of the UAE seems to have been built to amaze. In a perfect combination of tradition and futuristic avant-garde, between desert and camels you will see some of the largest and most absurd architectural structures on the planet.
Starting from the Downtown it’s compulsory to stop at Burj Khalifa, that for now is still the tallest skyscraper in the world, and immediately at the foot of its “small” structure the Dubai Mall and its expanse of water in an atmosphere halfway between a little Venice and an Arab Hong Kong. If you have the chance, go up the Burj Khalifa to admire the marvelous panorama of the Atlantis The Palm and visit the Miracle Garden. Then go to the Mall because even if you do not love shopping centers, it is an experience to try (the aquarium inside we ensure that it is just one of the great activities to be experienced inside). Stop for a perfect desert-style brunch at the Downtown Palace; among rose petals and Abra (small boats like gondolas) you will really experience a taste of fairytale. From there you can also admire the Fountain Show that takes place every day both at lunchtime and at sunset (of course at dusk the suggestion is even greater). For the evening, however, we recommend a walk to Jumeirah or Dubai Marina: between tastings of Hookah and dates you will be amazed by the charm of the lightings. Do not disdain even the Old Dubai: The souq, especially the gold on, between spices and fabrics (super recommended cashmere) will take you into a dimension of other times and will make you try a real insider experience. For an unforgettable luxury trip that will really make you feel immersed in the Mille e una Notte atmosphere, book a night in the desert at Bab al Shams…Sex And The City in comparison will not be anything.
SINGAPORE:
With a green and metropolitan soul at the same time, if you are lucky enough to have a few more days for your spring break, Singapore is the destination for you. Immersed in South East Asia, this Malay Peninsula is a unique example in the world in terms of cosmopolitan and multicultural character: 4 are the official languages and at least twice the traditions and customs of which you can experience.
To visit absolutely Marina Bay with its three towers, on top of which you can admire the Sand & Sky park: an incredible park with swimming pool that is the terrestrial flap between sky and sea. Singapore is famous in the world as well as for primates in design and technological and financial avant-garde, also for the respect (regulated more than effectively) nourished towards the environment: Gardens by the Bay and its gigantic trees made to collect rainwater and provide lighting through solar panels, is an example that should envy the world. Obligatory then a stop to Orchard road and its super luxury ION mall and also the Singapore Flyer, one of the biggest Ferris wheels in the world from which to admire all the 60 mini archipelagos that make up the peninsula. The multi-ethnic neighborhoods are the real highlight of this magical city: Chinatown and Little India are unmissable. Unlike many other super popular cities, Singapore breathes history every day, go to the iconic Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling in perfect Hemingway style to sip immersed in a colonial atmosphere of yesteryear. For a trip out of the city that is truly incredible, do not miss the visit to Sentosa, a mastery of natural design among aquariums, rides and theme parks. Coming to what will tickle your palate, we must confess that Singapore has another and last record: street food. Walking through the streets of the city you can degrade the excellent fried rice and chili crab that will not surely make you regret pizza and spaghetti.
