It was around the 50s when, thanks to the flows of American tourists who went there for its natural wonders, the German region that goes from Franconia to Upper Bavaria has been renamed Romantische Strasse.
So what better occasion than the upcoming Valentine’s Day to discover this lovely path? In a blaze of cultures, aromas and colors, the romantic road runs through Germany from north to south, making it one of the most important made in Deutschland destinations. All its castles surrounded by fantastic natural environments, are the protagonists of this journey, together with large forests and waterways that will immediately project you into the Disney inspired village of “Beauty and the beast”.

The cities that you’ll find in the Romantische Strasse are many and have a predominantly medieval architecture in common. NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE
Does it remind you of something? Maybe if the images were accompanied by the theme song aka the childhood soundtrack par excellence of each of us, the answer would be easier. This is exactly the castle that became the Disney’s icon and logo. It was thanks to King Ludwig II (known by some of you again for its constant presence in some of the most famous Disney’s movies) that this castle has been built in the South-West of Bavaria. Neuschwanstein is a really lovely spot for all the lovers who, even though their everyday life’s a fairytale, don’t want to renounce to a magical new experience.
LANDSBERG AM LECH

Located on the Lech river, the magic of this ancient village made of colorful houses and enchanted gardens will captivate you. Insider tip: for a truly Romantischen experience, visit the town hall, the Marienbrunnen fountain, the Mutterturm and Hauptplatz, the main square.
AUGUSTA
Located this time in the north-west of Bavaria, Augusta is another must-see of this trip. Its bipolarity that oscillates between being an absolutely technological and contemporary city and its mediaeval monuments makes it unique. Its neighborhoods are all very characteristic and particular, to note the Fugger area, the Schaezler palace with its princely charm and its golden furnishings and the Perlach tower from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view.
ZUGSPITZE
For the couples with a more adventurous soul, the excursion to Mount Zugspitze will give you a truly incomparable Valentine’s Day. As the highest mountain in Germany, the view is incredible and overlooks all the valleys below. Half way you’ll find the town of Grainau, where you’ll be enchanted by the picturesque landscapes of two beautiful and crystal-clear lakes. Once you reach the peak (do not worry the cable car will rescue you) you will admire the entire route from the breathtaking rooftop terrace, to not miss a thing go visit the meteorological observatory and the highest-altitude restaurant-brewery in Germany.
