Last night, in the setting of the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the 50th edition of the American Music Awards took place. The 2022 edition was produced by Dick Clark Productions and ABC, and hosted by Wayne Brady.
An event full of celebrities to celebrate the world of music and, specifically, the best performers around the world. Italy also won an award this year. In fact, Måneskin, nominated in the Favourite rock song category, won with their single Beggin.
Among the most nominated artists, however, Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny garnered the most nominations, earning no fewer than eight awards, including the most important as Artist of the Year. Taylor Swift – by a record obv – won in all six categories for which she was nominated, including artist of the year, the highest accolade of the night. This year’s victories make Swift the most awarded artist in the history of the celebrated AMAs, with an impressive 40 wins.
The stage featured performances by artists including Pink, Dove Cameron, Lil Baby, Bebe Rexha, Carrie Underwood, the Imagine Dragons and many others. Winner of the well-known Icon Award was Lionel Richie, for his contribution to the music industry.
Elton John returns to win an award at the AMAs after more than 30 years, winning the award for the best collaboration with Dua Lipa, becoming the longest-running artist in the history of the event.
Speaking of fashion, the American Music Awards have always made a special contribution to the fashion system. Among the best looks of the evening was the Monsoori miniskirt with train worn by Becky G, while Dove Cameron opted for a gothic look by Marc Jacobs. Brazilian singer Anitta wore a stunning custom made gown by Thierry Mugler with Bebe Rexha wearing a voluminous red dress by Buerlangma, styled by Law Roach.
