ANNE HATHAWAY LAUNCHES A PROPOSAL FOR THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2

No matter how many times we have actually seen it, The Devil Wears Prada remains one of those films that we will see once more. The 2006 film directed by David Frankel was Anne Hathaway’s real success (the Oscar came for Les Miserables in 2012), but despite this, the actress says she is not very convinced about returning for a possible sequel. During an interview with The View, Hathaway was asked what she thought about a possible “The Devil Wears Prada 2” and her answer was “Tempting to make, but also probably not possible, considering how much the press and the publishing world has changed since the original film was released in 2006.” Anne Hathaway also added, “I don’t know if it’s possible, I just think that movie was in a different era. Everything has become so digital now, and that movie was about the concept of producing a physical object. Now it’s very different.”

“It’s tempting to think that Andy (Hathaway) and Emily (Emily Blunt) have to bring coffee to Miranda (Meryl Streep), who is somewhere in Europe, and then along the way pick up Stanley Tucci in Italy, who is in a restaurant. It’s tempting, but I don’t think it will happen. They could relaunch it with a remake and find new people and do it.”

The Devil Wears Prada earned $326 million worldwide and landed Streep, the iconic Miranda Priestley, an Oscar nomination for best actress. Just recently Hathaway had returned to talk about the original film but to shut down the debate that had arisen over whether Nate, Andy’s boyfriend played by Adrian Grenier, was the film’s real villain. “No, I’m sorry, that’s not the case,” Hathaway told Watch What Happens Live “I think they were both very young and figuring things out, and he acted like a brat, but I acted like a brat in my 20s too and I hope I got out of it and I think that’s what we all do. I wouldn’t want to be defined by my worst moment in my 20s, certainly, so I don’t consider Nate a villain really.”
