Are you ready? The fifth season of the popular Netflix original TV series The Crown will premiere on Nov. 9, about two months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The announcement was accompanied by trailers anticipating some of the themes addressed, among them the impending divorce between Diana Spencer and Prince Charles during the 1990s. According to reports, the final episode of the fifth season will focus on the deaths of Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, and Dodi al-Fayed, played by Khalid Abdalla.
The fifth season of The Crown will consist, like its predecessors, of 10 episodes. A stellar cast consisting of:
Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Jonny Lee Miller as Prime Minister John Major, Dominic West as Charles Prince of Wales, Marcia Warren as the Queen Mother, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, Flora Montgomery as Norma Major, James Murray as Prince Andrew, Emma Laird Craig as Sarah Ferguson, Sam Woolf as Prince Edward, Senan West as Prince William, and Salim Daw as Mohamed Al-Fayed.
The entire cast and crew are said to be “anxious” about the filming portraying Diana’s death in Paris. A source very close to the production said how difficult it has been to get to that point that we all know about. What will it be like to relive the death of Diana and then-boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed in that tragic car accident in Paris in 1997?
We know little about whether there will be a sixth season of the hugely popular series; it was supposed to be the last, but creator Peter Morgan announced in July 2020 that he would end the series with six very last episodes.
As we wait to find out what will happen and whether there will be a possible final season of the series, we look forward to November 9.
