Imagine taking a journey through memories and images carved into a person’s mind, living through those images his own emotions, his own perceived. The exhibition at Palazzo Reale dedicated to the photographic career of Ferdinando Scianna is just that, an exciting and extremely intimate journey.
About two hundred photographs, all strictly in black and white, are exhibited at Palazzo Reale in “Ferdinando Scianna travel tale memory“ appointment not to be missed until June 5 for all photography enthusiasts but for those who want to embark on a journey in the life of an artist able to tell different worlds with the same sensitivity and attention to more unexpected details.
The typical landscapes of that Italy of the 60s, of his Sicily but also New York and Lourdes and then religion with its symbols, the eyes of a passerby or a child, it does not matter, Scianna made them eternal and in his shots they still seem lucid.
There are also the faces of the movie stars from Monica Bellucci to Martin Scorsese, the Hollywood glam who, immortalized by his elegant lens, acquires the allure that has bewitched the world. Do not miss the meeting with fashion and creative duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana that together consecrate the beginning of a new era in fashion System, in which Italy of Scianna’s shots blends with the stylistic codes of the maison dolce&gabbana, bringing that Made in Italy DNA to conquer every creative field. The shots of Scianna’s muse par excellence, Marpessa, are imposing and hypnotic: a love – and an admiration – that transcends time and space.
The exhibition is curated by Paola Bergna, Denis Curti and Alberto Bianda, produced by the City of Milan and Civita Exhibitions and Museums and in fact brings to light more than fifty years of activity of Scianna with an unprecedented audiovisual document of the artist.
