Oscar night is one of the most anticipated events of the year around the world. During this famous event dedicated entirely to the world of cinema, the best films, actors, actresses and professionals are honoured. Obv again this year, the awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles.
For the uninitiated, it is worth remembering that each competing film is selected by a jury composed of members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, an organisation of film technicians. The main evaluation criteria are direction, screenplay, acting, cinematography and soundtrack. The awards ceremony will be presented – for the third year running – by Jimmy Kimmel, amid live performances and tributes to the great names of the film universe. Thus, in an atmosphere of great elegance and glam – because Oscar night is also known for the looks worn by the stars on the red carpet -, the 95th Academy Awards will come to life on 12 March.
Where to watch Oscar night
Once again this year Sky Cinema is the home of the Oscars, with the 95th Academy Awards ceremony being broadcast live on Sky and streamed on NOW. In addition, to celebrate this eagerly awaited event and take viewers through the best of Oscar cinematography, from Saturday 4 to Friday 17 March Sky Cinema Collection (channel 303) becomes Sky Cinema Oscar, a channel entirely dedicated to the films awarded with the most popular award, with over one hundred titles. A programme that in the night between Sunday 12 and Monday 13 March will culminate with the live broadcast from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles of the Academy Awards.
Also available on Sky are some of the films nominated this year: ELVIS, nominated for eight awards including Best Picture, Best Actor with Austin Butler, Best Editing, Best Set Design, Best Cinematography, Best Costumes, Best Sound, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, already available on Sky Primafila, Monday 13 March at 9pm. 15 on Sky Cinema Uno (and in late evening on Sky Cinema Oscar) and on NOW; THE BATMAN, already available on Sky and NOW, nominated for best visual effects, best sound and best make-up and hairstyles; MRS HARRIS GOES TO PARIS, nominated for best costumes, from 26 January on demand on Sky Primafila.
