The first reviews of The Last of Us already seem to be amazing, and the usual tam-tam has begun on social media when a title is particularly appreciated. The HBO-branded series is an adaptation of the video game of the same name is finally available Sky and NOW and seems to have all the makings of the next – unmissable – hit.
But let’s go find out everything there is to know about this new TV series…
The Last of Us, the official adaptation of the iconic video game developed by US-based Naughty Dog, has finally debuted its first episode. Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the Playstation action-adventure is now also a TV series.
It stars Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey as Ellie Williams, who find themselves living in a post-apocalyptic setting among monsters and assassins trying to survive. Actors such as Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, and Nick Offerman also take part in this new series.
Conceived by Craig Mazin, already the creative mind behind other hits such as Chernobyl, and Neil Druckmann, the writer of the two video games from which the series is based and Uncharted , The Last of Us has been called one of the best–in its category–of recent times, one of the greatest ever made to date.
The plot
A species of cordyceps fungus has infected humanity, turning those who inhale its toxic spores into infected zombie-like animals. ‘The Last of Us’ comes to life 20 years after this happened. The protagonist Joel lives in a quarantine zone in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the few points of civilization still under martial law and extreme control. Joel and his partner in crime Tess, in between dealing, stealing, and smuggling to maintain a standard of comfort, find themselves escorting a little girl named Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. This series looks to respect the twilight and at times horror style of the famous video game through a brutal, harrowing and adrenaline-fueled journey.
