There are myths of the 1990s that never cease to ignite audiences. Titanic-but Leonardo DiCaprio in general-is certainly one of them. The record-breaking film signed by James Cameron has the power to still thrill today as it did upon its release, even when it passes by on television. This year, however, it celebrates 25 years, a milestone birthday that could only be celebrated in a special way.
James Cameron’s Oscar-winning film will return to Italian theaters on Feb. 9 to mark its 25th anniversary with a remastered version. Titanic won 11 Academy Awards (including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Set Design, Best Costumes, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound, Best Sound Editing, and Best Special Effects) and will return to theaters in 3D. With a cast led by Academy Award winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, the film is an epic action-packed love story set on the ill-fated maiden voyage of the “unsinkable” Titanic, at the time the largest moving object ever built.
Upon its first release in 1997, the film became the No. 1 worldwide box office champion of all time and is currently the third highest-grossing film worldwide. Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Studios present a Lightstorm Entertainment production, Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Hyde, Danny Nucci, Gloria Stuart, David Warner, Victor Garber, and Bill Paxton. Written and directed by James Cameron, the film was produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, and Rae Sanchini is the executive producer.
