We’re still obsessed with Euphoria aesthetic

The second season of Euphoria is over for a few months now and yet international websites and Instagram or TikTok accounts still go crazy with reference of that neon aesthetic launched by Sam Levinson in the summer of 2019 as the ultimate decoding of the emblematic Gen Z. The reason for this success is soon said, a winning formula from every point of view: the protagonist of this series is Zendaya, which became popular from a very young thanks to the Disney Channel and later the Spider-Man franchise.

The cast, apart from its protagonist, consisted of almost all emerging but talented actors, so that once the season one ended most of the actors who play the main characters were selected as testimonials or ambassadors for the great fashion houses, an example of all Hunter Schafer (Jules) for Prada, but also Jacob Elordi for Boss and Sydney Sweeney for miumiu.  The same reasoning worked for the make up department led by Doniella Davy, the costume designer Heidi Bivens and Labirinth for the soundtrack. A real bet that the showrunner and creator Sam Levinson has proven to win hands down, not only for one season but for two.

The aesthetics of Euphoria tells a world in which the traumas of a generation are mixed with the colors of neon signs, on a film that looks like analog machines. The mini dresses of the girls are hyper tight and after each episode are sold out on the main e-commerce USA. The hair is stuck in hair-style by Oregon beauty contest in the 90s and the make up of crystals and eyeliner is made to perfection and through this care every character takes incredibly life episode after episode. This makes Euphoria a series that not only conquers Gen Z itself, but also Millennials and Gen X.

Heidi Bivens has become the most requested designer costume in Hollywood and the crystal make up is now mainstream but the third season has been confirmed even if it is feared that, given the commitments of the protagonists now become superstars, the release will slide to 2024. How many other rewatchs of the first two seasons will we do in the meantime?
