September is truly a crucial month! Like every year, now is the time to sit down and carefully watch what is going on on the catwalks, to identify the trends that will matter next season. Ready? So, let’s see what’s up, with the 3 New York fashion week makeup trends from Spring Summer 2018 that you really shouldn’t miss. The cool thing is, since this is all about makeup, you’ll be way luckier than fashion victims, as you will be able to start wearing these looks in Winter already. Rebel rebel mode: on!
New graphic eye
Your eyes will be grabbing all the attention in 2018. Period. Kiss your lipsticks goodbye, they kinda disappear when you have your ice cream anyway, and get your pencils, eyeliners and colored matte eyeshadows out. This trend is utterly chic and sophisticated, and requires a bit of skill. The look is graphic but minimalist, and it plays with eyeliner in different shapes and forms. You’ll find all the makeup that caught our eye in the gallery, but there are two styles that we really think you should try: the edgy, white eyeliner we saw on Ulla Johnson‘s catwalk, to open up your gaze and grab all attention, or the softer version that Bella Hadid and the other models wore at the Oscar de la Renta show, where it was used as a touch of light to soften traditional cat-eye makeup.
A touch of metal
The good news is, you were already prepared for this thanks to one of our summer trends, which revolved around metallic colors. The approach will be a little softer next Spring Summer, and instead of applying metallic texture all over your eyelid, just having a small metallic detail there will be enough to be following the trend. The best look in our opinion? The one we saw at Anna Sui‘s show, which gave us a few ideas for the next festival season already…. You don’t need much to copy it. Get a cream eyeshadow and a lip brush: they will help you get that “silver tear” effect we saw on the models. As a final touch, use your fingertips and the same eyeshadow to give a touch of light to the inner corner of your eye. And voila, you’re done.
Sunset eyes
Red, pink, orange, sienna… Your eyelids will look like sunset! If red is definitely the color to wear this winter, the beauty world got the message loud and clear, and decided that it will be its favorite color for Spring Summer, too. Creativity is key if you want to make this trend yours: you can choose to apply just one color on your eyelid, like they did at Self Portrait, or go for more complex representations of sunset, getting inspiration from the looks we saw at Chromat‘s show. This kind of makeup really brings out green eyes, but as you can see in the gallery, it looks lovely with just about any eye and skin color. The secret is to avoid matte eyeshadows, to avoid looking like you are just tired, and surprise everyone with an unconventional look. Happy sunset!
