Born in 1993, Anitta is the Brazilian singer who is climbing the world music charts. You will surely remember her for the single with which she made us dance all summer, Paloma featuring the beloved Fred De Palma, but you should know that her career is actually studded with real star collaborations.
Linked to the Warner Music Group since 2012, Anitta made her debut in the world of music with the single Meiga e Abusada, followed by five albums that led her to international success. She has collaborated with artists such as Madonna, Major Lazer, Maluma and Ricky Martin but what’s her story?
Anitta, pseudonym of Larissa de Macedo Machado, was born in Rio De Janeiro and began to love music by singing in the choir of the church of Santa Luzia. At the age of eleven she joined her music studies, those of English and dance, laying the foundations for a successful career in the entertainment world. In fact, at the age of 17 she won the “Revelation of Music” award, definitively abandoning her first name to present herself to the international public as Anitta. Beyoncé‘s collaborators noticed her in 2013 and in the same year she launched her eponymous debut album “Anitta”. The stage name was taken from the character of Anita in a South American TV series, Anitta says that that character seemed fantastic to her because she was able to be sexy without ever seeming vulgar, to be a girl and a woman at the same time.
Little is known about her private life, she has always been described as a sex symbol by the media and in 2017 Billboard defined her as one of the most relevant personalities on social networks. In the same year, Anitta married the impresario Thiago Magalhāes from whom she separated after a few months; today she defines herself bisexual but loves to silence the gossip about her life. Throughout her career she has also sided with the weakest in her country by making donations for the homeless and actively helping people in Rio De Janeiro‘s main favelas.
A few days ago, Anitta made her debut with another international star, queen Cardi B, with the single Me Gusta. The warm and sensual sound typical of Anitta was mixed with the cutting verses of the most beloved female rapper of the moment and in a few days the single exceeded 15 million views. Me Gusta was presented for the first time at Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show last September 23 and in a few days it has climbed the world charts. Considered today the leading artist of the new generation of Latin American music, Anitta is now a star who, we are sure, will still give us many emotions and notes to dance on.
