Soon we will have the opportunity to hear the famous Disney hit performed by Halle Bailey, a young American singer and actress set to take on the role of Ariel in the live-action film of ‘The Little Mermaid‘. Born on 27 March 2000, Halle spent her childhood in Atlanta, Georgia, with her twin sister Chloe. Her fame was already known to most, as together with her sister, she formed the musical duo ‘Chloe x Halle’, which released several albums, including ‘The Kids Are Alright’ in 2018, which received several Grammy Awards nominations.
Subsequently, it was announced that she would star in the Disney film ‘The Little Mermaid’ in the title role, Ariel. The choice of Halle Bailey sparked much discussion and controversy, as the actress is African-American, while the character of Ariel is traditionally portrayed as a red-haired, white-skinned mermaid. However, the choice was greeted with great enthusiasm by many people, representing an important step towards representation and inclusion in popular culture.
Now, with great anticipation, we wait to see and hear Halle play one of Disney’s most iconic characters, with her incredible voice and stage presence.
