Today we celebrate Jared Leto on his birthday. The well-known American singer, actor and artist achieved popularity in the music band Thirty Seconds to Mars (founded with his brother in 1998) and for his roles in films such as Requiem for a Dream, Panic Room and Dallas Buyers Club. Born in Bossier City, Louisiana on 26 December 1971, Jared began his career as an actor during his teenage years, starring in television series such as My So-Called Life and Law & Order.
As an actor, Leto landed his first major role in the 2000 film Requiem for a Dream, for which he was later nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor. In 2013, he instead landed the role of Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, for which he went on to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2014.
CELEBRATING JARED LETO’S CAREER ON HIS BIRTHDAY
In addition to music and acting, Jared Leto is also known for his passion for fashion, photography and painting, and for his commitment to various social causes, such as voting rights and the fight against poverty.
In 2021, Jared Leto played the role of Paolo Gucci in House of Gucci, the film directed by Ridley Scott starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver and Al Pacino, centred on the murder of Maurizio Gucci. Perhaps not purely by coincidence, much else links the figure of Jared Leto to the famous Italian fashion house. In fact, the actor has been one of the faces of Gucci for years now – and linked by a deep friendship to the brand’s former creative director, Alessandro Michele.
