Tbs Meets…The “Sweet But Psycho” Icon Ava Max!

Queen of the hits and above all sweet but psycho girl, Ava Max quickly became the muse of the new generations. Pseudonym of Amanda Ava Koci and born in 1994, Ava is already an idol. She started to have success with the famous song Sweet But Psycho released in 2018 and still at the top of the international charts. Born in Wisconsin to Albanian parents, she made singing her greatest passion ever since. She released her first original song Take Away The Pain at just 19 years of age and after the so called “scripted refusals”, she was spotted during a dinner in Los Angeles by the Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus producer (OK WOW!). From then on her career has undergone a lash towards success, climbing, with her singles, not only the charts overseas but global. She has already collaborated with big names in the music scene such as David Guetta and Alan Walker and last March she came out with what promises to be her second big hit: Kings and Queens. Now become an icon, not only musical but also of style, we have chosen to meet her for you to let us tell you all about her new exciting, unconventional and introspective album! Are you curious to know her better? Here is our interview with Ava Max:

TBS: What are you doing during these days at home?

Ava Max: Hi! I’m cooking and keeping busy doing acoustics and performances, but I’m just trying to relax too

TBS: What is the meaning of your new single Kings & Queens?

Ava Max: Well it’s all about queens taking back their thrones, it’s always about women and how empowering we are and amazing we are! I definitely wanted to come out with a song cause I feel like we all made an anthem and it’s funny ’cause it’s like kind of impossible for me not to write an anthem, even this next song coming out is a really big anthem

TBS: What does girl power represent for you?

Ava Max: Girl power to me means supporting one another. I think to support your peers, the women around you are super important, and lifting them up!

TBS: How did you come out with the idea for the video?

Ava Max: It’s funny cause when a song is done, I instantly see the video in my head, so I saw like most of that: I saw the birds in my head, I saw like all of it. And I think it’s very easy for me to make a music video once the song is done cause I see it visually yeah

TBS: What was the scene that you enjoyed shooting the most?

Ava Max: The birds, I love birds! I’ve grown up with birds so I remember having so many birds growing up. When I was younger I had cockatiels and little finches; so I thought that moment was very special for me because I’m not around birds right now…yeah, maybe I should get some birds haha!

Throwback to sunny days ☀️

TBS: How do you feel when fans copy your style?

Ava Max: I think that’s just so flattering and it’s also exciting because it shows that they’re loving the songs which I’m really excited about, and I’m just happy they’re connecting with the music I’m putting out. I think that is the number one goal with my songs, I want people to connect and feel something.

TBS: When will your new album be released?

Ava Max: That’s the question! Well the thing is I was gonna product sooner but because of everything going on I didn’t feel like it was right to put it out right now, so I definitely can tell you it’s coming out this summer and I’m really excited about it and there’s a lot of new songs on the album, there’re mostly new songs and it has two sides. There’s a light side and a dark side and I feel like all of us have a light side and a dark side too.
