Nell’amatissimo Castello di Balmoral, in Scozia, muore la Regina Elisabetta II del Regno Unito, all’età di 96 anni. L’ultimo saluto alla monarca più longeva della storia, una figura di riferimento per la nazione britannica e non solo. Addio ad una presenza imponente sulla scena mondiale per ben sette decenni, Elisabetta II, la sua morte segna ufficialmente la fine del ‘900.
Della Regina Elisabetta II ricordiamo soprattutto lo stile unico nel suo genere, l’amore per i cappelli, le borsette e i guanti. In particolar modo sono stati i colori uno tra i tratti distintivi della sua estetica, quelli dei tailleur indossati durante gli eventi pubblici. Una variegata tavolozza di colori rainbow ha sempre contraddistinto l’immagina della Regina Elisabetta, rendendola iconica. Ma quali sono, e soprattutto se ci sono, le ragioni per cui Elisabetta II ha preferito nel corso degli anni un guardaroba così colorato. In uno degli ultimi documentari sulla Regina, sua nuora Sophie Contessa di Wessex ha spiegato che la scelta dei colori è un particolare modo utilizzato per identificarla nella folla. Durante le uscite reali, Elisabetta II indossava quasi sempre colori vivaci: dal giallo conchiglia indossato in occasione del matrimonio di Kate e William, all’abito color neon scelto per il matrimonio del Principe Harry con Meghan Markle, al classico ensemble ceruleo indossato durante la celebre cerimonia Trooping the Colour.
