It’s already been three years (and a pandemic) since the 5 season of Black Mirror, the Netflix’s dysphoric drama, left us with bated breath, yet according to Variety a brand new season would be in the pipeline and the casting has just begun.
Not much has been leaked yet about this highly anticipated production but, according to the entertainment magazine, the sixth season will be composed of a greater number of episodes than the previous one and will have a production more cinematic than television, or every single episode will be treated as a product for the big screen. Nothing new in reality, already in recent seasons the average duration of each episode had lengthened to 60 minutes with very high production values.
If in the fifth season we saw names like Miley Cyrus, Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, you can be sure that this new season will have guest stars to scream. The creator of the series Charlie Brooker and his creative partner Annabel Jones had stated that the climate experienced worldwide after the spread of the pandemic Covid-19 would hardly have accepted another harsh scenario like the one that Black Mirror usually offers about the future. Yet Brooker seems to have changed his mind, probably the exit from the state of emergency may have favored this change and we can already open the bets that this bitter experience will have been the inspiration for at least one episode?
